Christopher Jenks appointed Professor of Language and Intercultural Communication

As of August 1 2022, Prof. dr. Christopher Jenks as been appointed Professor of Language and Intercultural Communication at the Faculty of Humanities of Utrecht University (UU).
Christopher Jenks is a discourse analyst and intercultural communication researcher. He has worked in six distinct geopolitical regions: the United States, England, South Korea, Hong Kong, Denmark, and now the Netherlands. Christopher specializes in the study of language in society and is particularly interested in the political and cultural implications of the global spread of English. His research interests include how spoken and written discourse performs a range of communicative actions (e.g., trolling and arguing) and indexes a number of social phenomena (e.g., nationalism and race).
